Queenslanders’ Skin Cancer Mortality Rate Highest

Queenslanders are dying from heart attacks, skin cancer and suicide at a higher rate than residents of any other Australian state.

The Health 2020 Vision discussion paper, released by State Cabinet yesterday, warns that cases of heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes and mental illness will increase over the next two decades.

Premier Peter Beattie said the discussion paper would assist the Government to develop a long-term strategic plan for public health services in the state.
